Police believe Mr Lyon may have travelled to the Skye and Lochalsh area

Police are asking walkers to be on the lookout for a man who has gone missing.

Richard George Lyon, 59, is described as a keen hillwalker and munro-bagger.

Officers from Northern Constabulary believe he may be in the Skye and Lochalsh area or somewhere on the west coast of Scotland.

Strathclyde Police and Northern Constabulary are working together to find the Ayrshire man, who was last seen by his family setting off for work from his Kirkmichael home at 7am on Tuesday. His Honda CRV, registration number RJ55 EBP, was seen travelling northwards on the A80 near Castlecary about 1.20pm the same day.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said: “Mr Lyon has not been missing before and this is completely out of character for him. He has been feeling rather low lately and his family and police are now extremely concerned for his wellbeing.
