A mountain biker was stretchered from a forest trail after injuring herself in a fall.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 2pm today, Friday, and 10 members went to the woman’s aid on the North Face Trail, in Grizedale Forest.

A spokesperson for the team said: “The lady was treated for arm and leg injuries by team members and a paramedic from the North West Ambulance Service before being stretchered from the forest.

“She was taken to Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness by ambulance.”

The North Face Trail is a 16km (10-mile) loop of mixed mountain biking trail on the western side of the forest, including nine single-track sections. Grizedale Forest lies south of Hawkshead in the Lake District.
