The book details walks involving pubs in Kent

A seasoned rambler has put together a guide to walkers who want to combine a stroll or longer trip with a visit to the pub.

Geoff Rambler’s Heroic Yomps details 27 routes in Kent linking walk routes with pubs run by one of the county’s breweries.

Proceeds from the book – named after the military term for a challenging walk or jog – will go to the Combat Stress charity, which helps ex-service personnel’s mental health.

All bar one of the walks can be accomplished in one day and author Geoff Rambler – real name Geoff Ettridge – says anyone completing all the routes will have covered at least 114 miles. The routes can be linked to create five separate circular walks.

Only pubs run by Faversham-based Shepherd Neame brewers, who have sponsored the book, are featured.

Heroic Yomps features line drawings of the routes, along with turn-by-turn route descriptions, plus pub descriptions supplied by the brewery.

The A5 soft-cover guide costs £5 and more details are available from Geoff Rambler’s website or by emailing him.
