A walker was rescued after slipping and injuring herself on a Lakeland fell.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out yesterday about 3.35pm after the woman slipped near Rigg Head on the Yewdale Fells, north of Coniston.

Eleven volunteers from the team went to the walker’s aid and the North West Air Ambulance also went to the scene, above the Cumbrian village.

She was treated for a possible dislocated elbow and airlifted by the helicopter to Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness for further treatment.
