The walker was airlifted by a Coastguard helicopter

A man has been rescued after injuring himself  while walking in Wester Ross.

Police were alerted at 4pm today to the incident in the Gairloch area.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team went to the walker’s aid and a helicopter from the Coastguard base in Stornoway also joined in the operation.

A Northern Constabulary spokesperson said the injured man is being airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and no further information is available at present.
