Owners can part-exchange their guidebooks for a 50 per cent discount

Outdoor enthusiasts with a stack of old guidebooks can swap them for new editions at a bargain price under a scheme introduced by a leading publisher.

Cumbria-based Cicerone has extended the part-exchange scheme, previously only available with its Lakeland Fellranger series, to its whole range of guidebooks.

Owners of the company’s guidebooks will get a 50 per cent on a new edition, by sending in their old copy with their order.

Cicerone’s marketing manager Sarah Spencer said: “Our guides last for years and customers often hold on to well-worn copies.

“But the landscape changes; new facilities may open or paths might be closed or re-routed, so information can get out of date. We want to continue to provide people with the best and most reliable guides to the hills, so we’ve decided to offer our customers the chance to exchange their guides for the latest editions at 50 per cent discount.

“The scheme will certainly be a great opportunity for longstanding users of Cicerone’s handy guides to bring their library up to date.

“Some may be tattered and battered; each rain soaked page or crumpled cover could no doubt tell a story, but they don’t mind what condition the guide is in.

“It may even look as good as new but if there’s a more recent edition available it’s yours at half the price.”

Details of the scheme and how to upgrade to the latest editions are on Cicerone’s website.
