A walker was rescued after collapsing on a Cumbrian fell in the heat.
The 58-year-old was on Great Lingy Hill with a companion yesterday, Tuesday, when he fell ill with heat exhaustion.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 4.35pm and sent a small group to help the man, who was on the Cumbrian Way on the 600m fell, north-east of Skiddaw.
While en route, the team was told the Great North Air Ambulance was on its way to airlift the man.
A spokesperson for Keswick MRT said: “However, the aircraft was only able to land about 800m away, and as the crew were unable to carry him to the aircraft unaided, the team went up to help get him on board.
“The aircraft then flew him down to the team’s vehicle, and he was taken to Keswick Cottage Hospital for a check-up.”
Thirteen team members took part in the rescue, which lasted just over three hours.
Temperatures reached an unseasonably high 20.3C in Keswick yesterday afternoon.
