A walker was rescued after injuring her head on a fell in the Lake District.

The 69-year-old from Cheshire was on a route between Honister and Haystacks when she tripped and injured her head.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team went to the aid of the woman, who also injured her back in the slip at Little Round How.

The team was alerted about 2.35 yesterday, Wednesday, and 21 members were involved in the rescue. The walker was treated at the scene and then stretchered to the Cockermouth MRT which took the woman to a waiting ambulance at Honister Slate Mine.
