The man was airlifted from Broad Crag

A walker was airlifted from a Lakeland fell after suffering a head injury.

The 60-year-old was on Broad Crag in the Scafell Pike range when he fell yesterday.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at about 1.55pm and 13 members of the volunteer team went to the man’s aid.

A spokesperson said: “Due to the remote location and lack of information about the casualty’s condition a Sea King from HMS Gannet attended and evacuated them to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.”

The rescue ended about 4pm.
