Two walkers were injured in separate incidents in the Lake District.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 3pm today to deal with a woman with a back injury near the summit of Starling Dodd in the High Stile range above Ennerdale.

Twenty-six volunteer team members went to the aid of the walker and she was airlifted from the 633m (2,077ft) fell by the Great North Air Ambulance and flown to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for treatment.

Two hours later, Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call for help from a walker who fell on Crinkle Crags and injured his head.

The man started to make his way down from the fells, but another walker went ahead to raise the alarm, and members of the team met the man in Browney Gill, below Red Tarn, and helped to safety by the team.
