A man was rescued after breaking his leg while walking in the Lake District.

The 75-year-old was on the lakeshore of Crummock Water with five others when he injured himself.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 3.15pm today, and 15 members went to the walker’s aid.

He was treated at the scene and then stretchered to a waiting ambulance at High Park, Loweswater, which took him to hospital for further treatment.
