Members of a mountain rescue team demonstrated their skills for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team joined Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service in a show of specialist water skills in Crickhowell recently.

The team enacted a joint riverbank search in Glanusk Park. Afterwards, team leader Nigel Dawson introduced team members to the royal pair.

Mr Dawson said: “It was a real privilege to demonstrate the skills of our team to the royal party.

“Her Majesty took a keen interest in our work and it was a pleasure to share in the occasion and the celebration of the diamond jubilee.”

The volunteers of Brecon Mountain Rescue Team cover an area extending through Powys and Carmarthenshire. Last year was the team’s busiest year ever with an average of two callouts every week.
