A walker was rescued from a Lakeland fell after injuring her ankle.

The 67-year-old was on Lothwaite, Sale Fell, on Wednesday when she suffered a suspected broken ankle.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 3.25pm and 22 members were involved in rescuing the woman from the fell, which overlooks Bassenthwaite Lake.

The volunteer team treated her at the scene then carried her off the fell to a waiting ambulance which took her to hospital.
