A woman was stretchered from a Lakeland beauty spot after falling and injuring her leg.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team went to the aid of the walker after being alerted at 3.55pm on Saturday.

The woman was walking in Tom Ghyll below Tarn Hows when she fell and suffered as suspected broken leg.

Ten members of the volunteer team treated the walker at the scene and carried her down to the Glen Mary car park on the main road to a waiting ambulance which took her to Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness for further treatment.
