A walker was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after suffering a leg injury in a fall.

Members of Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team were joined by colleagues from the Kendal team today after being alerted to the incident about 4.10pm.

The walker was originally reported to be in an adjacent ravine in Great Langdale, but was found by rescuers in Stickle Ghyll.

Twelve Langdale Ambleside members went to his aid in a rescue lasting 3½ hours.

A team spokesperson said the walker was near the top waterfall in the gill: “After managing to clarify that he was in Stickle Ghyll, and not Dungeon Ghyll as first reported, he was treated and evacuated by team members, with help from Kendal MRT,” the spokesperson added.
