Vango, best known for its tents, has stepped into the outdoor footwear market with the launch of a range at the recent Outdoor Trade Show.

The footwear, including boots, shoes and sandals will appear in shops from March next year and will be pitched at the affordable end of the market.

A Vango spokesperson said: “Having long been distributors of footwear for the UK and Ireland, AMG – Vango’s parent company – have the experience and expertise to provide the market with a collection packed with suitable features such as Protex and full-grain leathers.

AMG distributes Asolo footwear, but the introduction of Vango-branded shoes and boots is a new move for the Scottish company.

“Vango footwear carries the Vango ethos of high quality, durable, functional products at an accessible price into their first capsule footwear collection launching in spring-summer 2013 and will provide suitable footwear for the solo trekker to family campers.

“With numerous colour options and ladies-specific options throughout the collection, the range also proves to be excellent value for money with prices starting from £30 through to £85 for their top-of-the-range leather boot.”

The Vango footwear collection has three ranges: Trekking, Adventure and Active.

The Trekking range has three boot models: Contour, Pumori, Sherpa, all with Protex 10,000mm hydrostatic head waterproof liners; full polyethylene heel counters for support; EVA midsoles for comfort and cushioning and a nylon shank from heel to forefoot for support and stiffer flex.

They come in leather, Nubuck, and suede uppers and, said Vango, have spacious, deep cleated outsoles, ideal for UK mud. The boots will be priced from £65 to £85 in the shops.
