A woman walking near Mungrisdale was rescued after suffering severe abdominal pains.

The walker, in her 50s, called for help while Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was involved in a major rescue on Sharp Edge yesterday.

Colleagues from Penrith Mountain Rescue Team covered the incident and were able to drive their Land Rover to the site, near Bannerdale Crags.

She was driven to a waiting ambulance in an operation involving 13 volunteer team members and lasting 1¾ hours.
