The walker was found sheltering on Carling Knott

A rescue team went to the aid of a walker lost in low cloud on a Lakeland fell.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 3.15pm today after the 41-year-old called 999.

The man had left Blake Fell, a 573m (1,880ft) hill south-west of Loweswater in the north-western corner of the Lake District.

After taking shelter the walker rang for help.

Members of the rescue team found his sheltering on nearby Carling Knott and walked him to safety back to where his car was parked.

The rescue involved 31 Cockermouth MRT members.
