Two mountain rescue teams mounted a search for a couple and their dog missing on a Lakeland fell.

The Penrith team asked for help from the Patterdale team today after the walkers, from Morecambe, were reported missing in fading light on High Street.

The Patterdale team was called out about 6.24pm and joined the search from Hayeswater dam leading up towards The Knott.

Penrith MRT members started searching from Haweswater, where the couple’s car was found.

A Patterdale dog handler found the missing walkers unhurt close to Rest Dodd.

They were able to walk off the fell with team members down to the valley.

Penrith team then drove them back around to Haweswater to collect their car.
