A walker was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after injuring her ankle.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out today about 11.45am after the woman suffered the injury on a path above Greendale Farm overlooking Wasdale.

She was given pain relief by team members and her leg was splinted before she was carried down from the fell to a waiting ambulance.

The 2¼-hour rescue involved 19 volunteer team members and was the Wasdale MRT’s first of the year.
