A walker was airlifted from a Yorkshire Dales fell after slipping and injuring herself.

The 43-year-old woman slipped on frozen ground while coming down from Park Fell, north of Ingleborough today.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 2.15pm and went to the woman’s aid. Rescuers said she had suffered a dislocated fracture of her ankle.

A team spokesperson said: “CRO attended and, following treatment by paramedics and one of the team doctors, stretchered the casualty a short distance down to an air ambulance.”

It was the team’s eighth rescue of the year.
