Rescuers are searching for a walker who was reported to have fallen from a mountain in north-west Scotland.

Police Scotland said they are co-ordinating the rescue after they were informed the man had fallen on Liathach.

A police spokesperson said he had fallen shortly after 2.35pm on Tuesday.

Torridon Mountain Rescue Team has gone to the scene and a Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth has joined the search, which police said was ongoing.

A spokesperson said no further details are available at present.

The Torridon mountain has two munro peaks, Spidean a ‘Choire Lèith and Mullach an Rathain.

The full traverse of Liathach’s ridge is considered a challenging route, with Am Fasarinen’s pinnacles presenting a difficult barrier.
