A man suffering from heat exhaustion was rescued from a Lake District fell.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 7pm on Monday after a vehicle was found near Thirlmere.

Police had been alerted to the find near the Dob Gill car park on the western shore of the lake.

A rescue team spokesperson said the vehicle appeared to be abandoned, but enquiries revealed it belonged to a man who had been reported missing from home and was possibly in a vulnerable state.

A Keswick MRT spokesperson said a small group of team members and dogs and handlers from the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs who were training nearby searched the area around the car.

The spokesperson said: “The missing person was found by Keswick search dog Ginny above Harrop Tarn, apparently suffering from heat exhaustion.

“He was assisted from the fell, and taken for further assessment.”

The rescue involved eight Keswick MRT members along with four dogs and handlers and lasted 2¾ hours.
