A walker was airlifted from a Lakeland fell after becoming unwell.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Friday at 1.15pm and went to the woman’s aid on the western slopes of the Old Man of Coniston.

A helicopter from the North West Air Ambulance also flew to the scene and she was treated for a possible heart condition by medical staff from the aircraft before being flown to Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness for further treatment.

Eight volunteer members of the Coniston team took part in the rescue.
