A walker was airlifted from a Lake District mountain after falling and injuring herself.

The 57-year-old woman was walking on Fleetwith Pike today when she injured her arm in the incident.

The Great North Air Ambulance’s Pride of Cumbria helicopter was scrambled at 5pm and flew to the scene.

A doctor and paramedic from the crew treated the woman at the site before she was flown to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for further treatment.
