The boy had been freed when the team arrived at Ribblehead

A rescue team was called out to its second cave incident in one day after a boy got stuck underground in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Cave Rescue Organisation was alerted at 10.45pm on Tuesday after the 13-year-old got his knee jammed in a crack in Thistle Cave at Ribblehead.

The boy was on an evening trip underground.

A CRO spokesperson said when the team arrived at Ribblehead, members found that his own party had been able to extract him and their help was no longer needed.

The recuers had been called out in the early morning to find a pair of cavers stuck in Swinsto Hole in Kingsdale.
