A walker was stretchered from a Lake District fell after injuring himself in a fall.

The 19-year-old suffered shoulder and ankle injuries in Sour Milk Gill above Buttermere yesterday.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at about 7.35pm and 19 members were involved in the operation.

A team spokesperson said: “The casualty was treated and then stretchered to the valley bottom and transferred to a road ambulance to Whitehaven hospital.”
