A shelter in the north-west Highlands will be out of bounds to walkers for a week while repairs take place.

The Suileag bothy in Assynt will be closed to enable volunteers from the Mountain Bothies Association fix the building.

The bothy, in the shadow of Suilven, will close between 31 August and 7 September.

The building lies in the Glencanisp Forest, about 6km (3¾miles) east of Lochinver.

Work will also be carried out on two other bothies, the Tarf Hotel – the Fèith Uaine Bothy – on the Atholl estate north of Blair Atholl, and Dibidil on the Isle of Rùm.

Details of restrictions can be found on the Mountain Bothies Association website.
