A Lake District walker was rescued after breaking her ankle.

The 64-year-old woman was walking on the path between Scale Force and Buttermere today when she slipped and suffered the injury.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 3.10pm and treated at the scene by team members before being stretchered to Buttermere.

An ambulance then took her to hospital.

The rescue involved 17 volunteer members of the team.
