Film-makers at one of Britain’s biggest outdoor festivals have the chance to gain even more exposure in a new tie-up with Channel 4.

The broadcaster’s revitalised The Shooting Gallery series will feature a Kendal Mountain Festival special later this year, with short-film nominees and winners having the potential for a screening on national television.

The festival in the Cumbrian town also promises offerings from established film-makers, with Al Lee’s Antarctica movie The Last Great Climb expected to premiere, along with Hotaches Productions Distilled, which organisers understands involves climber Andy Cave and whisky.

A Kendal Mountain Festival spokesperson said: “Speakers at the festival this year include US Alpine hot-shot Kelly Cordes and Everest man-of-the-moment Kenton Cool.

“Top women climbers are well represented with Shauna Coxsey, Lucy Creamer, Mina Leslie-Wujastyk and Spanish big-wall soloist Silvia Vidal.

This year’s festival runs from 14 to 17 November and also features the Boardman Tasker literary prize, art exhibitions and the Rab party.
