The walkers got lost on the Old Man of Coniston

Rescuers were called out on Boxing Day to help a group of walkers lost on a Lake District mountain.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was alerted yesterday afternoon after a party of six called for help after getting lost in mist and in failing light on the Old Man of Coniston.

Eleven members of the team took part in the search and rescue of the walkers.

A team spokesperson said: “Team members quickly located the group who were all uninjured and escorted them off the hill to the team’s waiting Land Rovers.”
