The pair got lost on Scafell Pike on Wednesday and called for help.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 3.55pm and eight members made their way on to the fell and found the pair on the 978m (3,209ft) summit plateau.

Team members were able to walk the pair down to safety at Wasdale Head via the Hollow Stones path.

The six-hour rescue involved a total of 10 volunteer members of the mountain rescue team.
