The girl injured herself in Long Churn Cave in the Yorkshire Dales

A girl was rescued from a Yorkshire Dales cave after injuring herself in a slip underground.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 1.55pm today to Lower Long Churn Cave near Selside.

A 16-year-old slipped down The Slot and injured her shoulder.

The team doctor treated the caver underground before she was hauled up the main passage and then helped along an underground stream to the surface.

A team vehicle then took her to the road at Selside and to a waiting ambulance.
