The walker was stung by a wasp on High Dodd

A Lake District mountain rescue team was called out twice in two hours, to a girl having an asthma attack and to a man who had been stung by a wasp.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was joined by colleagues from the Penrith team yesterday after the 16-year-old girl got into difficulties near Glenridding.

The North West Air Ambulance flew to the scene and the crew’s doctor treated her before she was stretchered to a Patterdale team Land Rover which took her back to the rescue base.

She was then taken by ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for further treatment.

A short time later, the Patterdale team was alerted to a 62-year-old man who was stung by a wasp while walking with companions on High Dodd, above Ullswater.

Penrith team members went to the scene and treated the man, who was able to walk off the fell.

A Patterdale team spokesperson said: “The Penrith MRT kindly offered to transport the male back to his car in Patterdale.”
