The woman got lost on Hawkswick Moor above Arncliffe

A lost walker in the Yorkshire Dales was brought to safety by a fellrunner who came across her.

The woman became disoriented while walking from Arncliffe to Kettlewell, across Hawkswick Moor.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association was called out by police today about 4.40pm after reports the walker had lost the path and become extremely distressed.

A team spokesperson said: “Fortunately, as the search was just getting under way, the lady was found by a local runner who brought her down to Hawkswick.

“After a cup of tea she was driven back to her car in Kettlewell in a team vehicle.”
