A calendar produced by aficionados of the late author Alfred Wainwright is now on sale.

The Wainwright Society’s annual calendar features photographs taken by society members, along with line drawings and quotes from the writer.

Profits from the 2015 publication will go the Ambleside-based Brathay Exploration Group Trust, and will fund a two-year programme of taster weekends during which children from disadvantaged backgrounds can enjoy the outdoors.

Derek Cockell, the society’s secretary, said: “For the past five years, the calendar has completely sold out raising thousands of pounds for our designated charities.

“It is the society’s hope that through the activities organised by Brathay Exploration Group Trust, more youngsters will be encouraged to climb and walk on Lakeland’s fells and experience the joy and wonder that Wainwright experienced when he was a young man exploring the mountains for the very first time.”

The calendar’s price has been held at £10. It can be ordered via the Wainwright Society website.
