The woman was walking on the Buttermere shore path when she slipped

A walker was rescued after breaking her leg on a Lakeland path.

The woman, in her 30s, was walking on the path around the shore of Buttermere today when she slipped and injured herself.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 1.20pm and went to her aid.

A team spokesperson said: “She was treated at the scene and carried a short distance across the fields to an ambulance, which transported her to West Cumberland Hospital.”

The rescue involved 15 volunteers from Cockermouth MRT.
