The woman slipped near the top of Malham Cove, the 80m limestone crag in the Yorkshire Dales

A walker was stretchered from a popular Yorkshire Dales beauty spot after slipping and breaking her ankle.

The 35-year-old woman was walking near the top of Malham Cove today when she slipped on frozen grass and injured herself.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out at 3.40pm and members treated the woman at the scene before stretchering her a short distance to one of the team’s vehicles.

The walker was then driven from the hillside and taken to Malham village where an ambulance took her to hospital for further treatment.

The incident was the team’s first of the New Year.
