The Patterdale MRT boat was used to reach the injured walker

Rescuers used their specialist boat to reach an injured walker in the Lake District.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out shortly after 3pm today when the woman hurt her head in a slip on the path alongside Ullswater.

Team members launched their rigid inflatable with seven rescuers on board from the Glenridding pier to reach the injured walker above Silver Bay, between Howtown and Glenridding.

The woman was treated at the scene before being taken back to the Patterdale MRT base where she was handed over to her husband and friends.

The two-hour rescue involved 11 volunteer team members.
