An innovative camping chair picked up an award at the recent ISPO trade show in Germany.

Helinox’s Swivel Chair gained a win in the outdoor products (tents and recreation) category at the Munich show, the third time in three years the company has secured an award.

The Swivel Chair combines DAC aluminium alloy technology with tough and breathable fabrics, and advanced design.

A company spokesperson said: “The Helinox Swivel Chair is the first truly portable 360-degrees swivel chair.

“At its core is a cleverly designed and engineered hub around which the frame can be quickly assembled, thanks to the single-corded pole structure. The frame is made out of high-strength aluminium in the unique DAC alloy TH72M, which offers great reliability and a lower weight than conventional aluminium.

“The seat is made out of a durable and easy-to-clean fabric, with breathable mesh sides. The Helinox Swivel Chair packs down into the space of a two-litre water bottle and weighs only 1.2kg, yet has a load capacity of 120kg (265lb).

Geor Nicolaas of Helinox Europe said: “We looked at all of the other outdoor swivel chairs on the market and they were either really heavy or had a huge pack size.

“Using the techniques and materials that helped us create the Helinox Chair One and Ground Chair, we have created a much lighter and genuinely portable alternative.

“We are delighted that the ISPO Awards jury has recognised the great innovation and very clever product design and engineering that has gone into the Swivel Chair.”

The chair retails at £115 and is available from selected UK retailers. Details are on the Helinox website.
