A walker was rescued after breaking her wrist at a Lake District beauty spot.

The 57-year-old woman was with her husband at Walla Crag in Borrowdale when she tripped and injured herself.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 12.10pm on Good Friday and gave the woman pain relief before splinting her arm.

A team spokesperson said: “After a short while, she felt she would be able to walk down to the team’s vehicle at Rakefoot Farm. While this took place, a team member accompanied her husband and dog down Cat Gill, so the car could be recovered.”

The couple were reunited at the team’s base and the husband then drove the woman to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for further treatment.

The rescue lasted a little over an hour and involved 20 volunteer team members.
