The injured walker was stretchered down to Buttermere village from the fell

A walker was rescued from a Lake District fell after injuring herself when she slipped.

The 59-year-old woman injured her ankle on the fell above Buttermere village today.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 4.30pm and treated the walker at the site between Scale Force and Far Ruddy Beck.

She was then stretchered down the hillside to a waiting ambulance in the village.

The rescue involved 29 volunteer members of the Cockermouth team.
