The daughter of a missing hillwalker has issued a desperate plea to walkers and mountaineers for sightings of her father.

Jim Robertson has not been seen for a week since he went walking in the Cairngorms.

Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team has been joined by Braemar, Cairngorm and Glenmore Lodge team members in the hunt for the experienced 61-year-old walker from Glasgow.

His daughter Lynn Strachan said: “Our only hopes of finding him rely on people who have been or are in in the Cairngorms area to come forward with any information. The area is so vast and we have no information about what mountain he could be on.

“We need someone who has seen my dad to help Braemar and Aberdeen mountain rescue teams to narrow their search. We are desperate for my dad to be found.

“Please keep re-sharing all official – police, mountain rescue, hillwalking clubs – posts about my dad. We know that he has been out in the snow, potentially since Monday, with next to nothing on his person.”

Mr Robertson is believed to have stayed at Bob Scott’s Bothy in Glen Lui on the Mar Lodge Estate.

He was reported missing on Friday when he failed to return home from his walking trip. Mr Robertson described as 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall, medium build, with short grey hair and wearing glasses. He is believed to be carrying a large rucksack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “If anyone has seen him or has any information as to his whereabouts, please contact officers at Cathcart Police Office on 101 as soon as possible.”
