A walker was rescued after slipping and injuring her back on a Lake District fell.

The young woman was walking on the bridleway above Ullswater on Friday when she injured herself.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 1.40pm and went to the scene between Howtown and Pooley Bridge.

A team spokesperson said: “The casualty was treated for back injuries and placed into a vacuum mattress before being stretchered to the team Land Rover.

“North West Ambulance Service then transferred her to hospital for further treatment.”
