Outdoor brand Black Diamond has revamped its range of headtorches for 2017.

The new Iota is a lightweight, small unit aimed at night-time runners and fast movers. The 150 lumen torch weighs only 50g and has a Li IO rechargeable battery. It’s waterproofed to IPX4 standard and will give a usable beam to about 50m.

The Iota comes with a minimal, adjustable headband and its head pivots to various angles.

It features Black Diamond’s Power Tap system, which gives full power with a simple tap to the side of the unit. The Iota will retail at £40.

Top power comes from the Icon, which delivers 500 lumen in a unit that uses four AA lithium or alkaline batteries.

It turns on to about a 200 lumen setting, which can be increased to its full brightness, giving a 100m beam. The Icon also features the Power Tap system, and has an adjustable angle head. It has programmable brightness memory and also has red light and strobe modes.

It is waterproof to IP67 standard and a lead extension pack and chest harness, to keep batteries warm, will be available.

The Icon will go on sale for £80.

Other headtorches in the range have been redesigned, including the 200 lumen, 80m Revolt and the Ion, which gets a power boost from 80 to 100 lumen. The 108g Sprinter also gets a power upgrade, with lighting up from 130 to 200 lumen
