A man was rescued from Helvellyn and a woman brought to safety after getting stuck on Blencathra on Wednesday.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 1.50pm when the walker fell near the summit of Helvellyn while on the hill with his partner.
He turned his ankle badly in the fall but managed to limp some distance down the path towards Swirls car park before calling for help near the foot of Browncove Crags.
A Keswick MRT spokesperson said: “Two vehicles of team members attended, and reached the casualty fairly swiftly.
“Although he had continued to limp down, it was decided to stretcher him over the last section to give him a bit of relief. Once down at the car park, he was driven to hospital while the team set off to the next job.”
While the rescue was in progress, the Keswick MRT was alerted to a woman stuck on Blencathra. The walker became cragfast and unable to move on the upper section of Hall’s Fell Ridge while with her partner.
The team spokesperson said: “The weather was windy, and a steady mizzle had set in.
“As the team was already on Helvellyn, a further small group set off from base to the access point at Threlkeld, and two other team members went direct.
“In the meantime the team’s first truck finished the incident at Swirls and set off direct to join the others. The casualty was recovered to safe ground, and the couple were then walked down to the bottom, which took some time.”
The Blencathra rescue lasted 3½ hours and involved 13 team volunteers, while the Helvellyn incident also involved 13 Keswick MRT members for a little less than two hours.

09 September 2017MR Teams are amazing. It seems that MR is a full time business involving large teams on multiple rescues on the same day. Presumably most have full time jobs, family responsibilities and hobbies yet spend their time rescuing a fair few numpties among the more genuine cases.
I hope that all those rescued make generous donations to the cause
