A walker died after collapsing on a fell in the Lake District.

The 80-year-old woman was with a group at the top of Raven Crag overlooking Thirlmere on Sunday when the incident happened.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 12.10pm. A team spokesperson said: “Members of the party and passers-by attempted to revive her with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

“The Great North Air Ambulance was deployed, and the team were on scene within 23 minutes, but despite the efforts of all, she could not be saved.

“The team recovered her body from the fell, and Cumbria police then took responsibility for her.”

The incident involved 13 Keswick MRT members for just over two hours.
