Outdoor enthusiasts with an eye on a top photography prize need to get snappy to be in with a chance to win.

Closing date for submissions for the Kendal Mountain Photography competition is Sunday.

The winner of the contest, which is being run by Kendal Mountain Festival and sponsor boot brand Danner, is a two-night stay in a luxury Swiss hotel, plus a pair of boots.

Organisers said: “This prestigious competition has become a top highlight of Kendal Mountain Festival and every year it continues to raise the bar in discovering new talent and celebrate images that reflect the creative vision and originality of the photographer.

“Shortlisted entries work will be exhibited in key festival locations and will be rewarded with top prizes from Danner and the supporting sponsors F-Stop and Smugmug.”

US photographer Jim Herrington, alongside festival and Danner representatives, will oversee the judging panel, which will be looking for images that capture perfect moments in daily adventures, either in the wilderness or urban landscapes.

Categories are:

  • Adventure in the Outdoors
  • Mountain Landscapes
  • Young Photographer – 18 years and under – Adventure on your doorstep
  • Smartphone – Friends in High Places
  • Fido on the Fells – canine shots up high
  • Urban Outdoors.

There will also be a people’s choice award and the grand prize for the overall winner.

Top contenders will be invited to attend a private reception on Friday 17 November in Kendal and the grand prize and people’s choice awards will be announced at the festival awards ceremony on Saturday 18 November.

Deadline for entries is 5 November at midnight.

The grand prize winner will receive a four-star, two-night, half-board stay for two in Danner’s partner hotel, the luxurious Huus hotel in Switzerland, plus a pair of Danner boots.

The people’s choice award winner will receive an F-stop Kashmir UL pack and Small Pro ICU.

Category winners will receive an F-stop laptop sleeve.

Entry is free. Images should be uploaded via the festival website.
