A man’s body has been found on a Lake District fell.

Police received a phone call on Tuesday morning after the discovery on Latrigg, overlooking Keswick.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 7.05am and members were called out to the scene.

A Keswick MRT spokesperson said: “Once the team arrived we waited for a team paramedic who then declared the man found, to be dead.

“We then assisted Cumbria police to help them recover the body and stretchered the body back to the car park to await transportation and other formalities.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the gentleman’s family.”

The incident involved 18 volunteers from Keswick MRT.

The discovery of the body was the second in less than a week on the Lakeland fells. On Thursday, a passing walker discovered a deceased 25-year-old woman at the head of Rossett Gill in Great Langdale.
