Stephen Wright has gone missing on the moors near Haworth

Police are appealing for sightings of a walker who has gone missing on the Brontë moors.

Stephen Wright contacted his wife on Monday evening to say he had got lost while walking from Stanbury, near Haworth in West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police said they were concerned for the safety of the 70-year-old.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to anyone who has been in the Haworth moors area who believes they may have seen Mr Wright.

“He is described as white, 6ft 2ins [1.88m] tall, of slim build with white hair and white beard. He is wearing denim jeans, a scarlet red jacket, a blue fleece, a black beanie hat, Merrell trainers and a black bumbag.”

Anyone who has seen Mr Wright or with any information that could help the search operation is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 1436 of 05/11.
